Transportation and Location of Camp

Transportation to Camp

Bus transportation to camp (leaving from St. John’s and Salmonier Line only) is included in the registration fee. Details are included in the registration package.

Location and Facilities

The camp will take place at the Brother Brennan Environmental Education Centre. The Centre consists of 2 main buildings: a cookhouse and dormitory that can sleep up to 72 people. More information about the facility can be found here: http://www.brotherbrennancentre.ca/about/maps-and-directions/

Although just over an hour from St. John’s, the Brother Brennan Centre is in a beautifully pristine setting. The Centre sits beside a clear pond, among a network of wetlands. It is home to a variety of wildlife, including loons, snipes, moose, squirrels, hares, ravens and crows. There are also many types of plants, including two carnivorous bog plants. Common sounds are the haunting call of loons, the ‘winnowing’ of snipes (a sound that is made with their tail feathers), and the gentle notes of songbirds. On clear nights, our campfires are lit by the moon and the glow of stars.

Echo Pond Summer Camp 10 Reasons to Send Kids to Echo Pond Summer Camp

[…] Our camp program is designed to suit children with many different interests. All kids will get the chance to be outdoor and active because we think this is good for all kids! (see: 10 Reasons to Spend 1000 Hours Outside) Activities will include, for example: swimming, outdoor games, orienteering, and treasure hunts. However, whenever we can, we will also give kids choice in which activity they participate in. Generally, the choice will between an Outdoor Adventure activity (e.g. shelter-building; learning knots) and Arts and Crafts (e.g. Painting by the pond; making natural sculptures). More details about our program here. […]
